Hello Chai is a love letter to every cup of tea that ever made us feel at home — no matter where we are in the world, whether it’s South Africa, USA, Qatar or right here in Malaysia.
Growing up South African, tea has always been part of the rhythm of daily life. It was warm, it was comforting — but it was our Pakistani uncle who took it to a whole other level.
Every time we made the trip back to the US to visit him, he’d brew chai that was unlike anything we’d ever tasted. Spiced just right, simmered slow, and served with so much heart that it didn’t just taste good — it felt like home.
We’ve been lucky enough to travel widely — and spending time in Qatar introduced us to karak chai, the Gulf’s version of the perfect cup. Strong, creamy, cardamom-kissed and served piping hot.
When we landed in Malaysia, we looked around and realised — nobody was doing this here. Not like this. Not with this flavour, this feeling, this love. So we decided to be the ones to bring it.
Hello Chai is our way of sharing that warmth with Malaysia. Every cup we serve carries a little bit of South Africa, a little bit of Pakistan, a little bit of Qatar — and a whole lot of home.
